Technical Advisor – Structural

Catalyst is an integrated multi-disciplinary organisation with specialist capabilities in technical advisory, ESG and building safety. Our company objective is to provide independent advice to clients within the construction industry. We work closely with design and construction teams but our focus is on impartial advice and as such, we do not undertake design.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our London team. As a technical advisor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering guidance and support to our investor and developer clients. Your knowledge in structural engineering and experience onsite will be essential for this role.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of structural site installations and design principles.
  • Deliver our services, to provide valuable guidance and support to our investor and developer clients.
  • Conduct technical due diligence activities, including desktop reviews and peer reviews of relevant information to identify risks.
  • Review and assess the adequacy and effectiveness of installation and remediation works carried out onsite, ensuring compliance with structural, building safety and building regulation requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of applicable legislation and design guidance related to the construction industry.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of technical advice and solutions into our clients’ projects.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements/Experiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar qualification, such as a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND).
  • Experience (minimum of 4 years) as a structural engineer with a strong onsite presence within the construction industry.
  • Technical skills including desktop reviews and report writing.
  • Experience reviewing and assessing installation and remediation works onsite, ensuring adherence to structural and building safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and design guidance related to the construction industry.
  • Excellent communication and team skills including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders onsite.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Microsoft suite.
  • Strong project management abilities; including the capacity to prioritise tasks, work on multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Ability and willing to travel throughout the UK and Ireland.

Salary

£50,000 (DOE)
